Diane Kruger of Troy

Being cast as Helen of Troy is Diane Kruger's big chance at superstardom. Only time will show how much she profits by it. Like any attractive woman who has been in even a single movie she'll have a fan base forever. These critical notes hint that she might become more of a Carmen Electra than a major box office draw.
Diane Kruger as Helen of Troy looks attractive in a sort of hair commercial way but while she quivers her lip occasionally to show some feeling she is hardly the sort of woman whose face would launch 1,000 ships and start a war.
Speaking of disappointing characters, I thought portraying women as beautiful-and-therefore-needing-no-depth went out when feminists started burning bras. But not in the 2004 reenactment of "Troy."
... Diane Kruger does not seem beautiful enough for men to risk empires over her, and as she is not blessed with a personality, this is a drawback. Mostly, she looks windblown.
As Helen of Troy, Diane Kruger's face could launch 20 or 25 ships, max.
A thousand ships?! This Helen would be lucky to launch a dingey!
Troy’s plot is skimpier than one of Brad Pitt’s leather skirts, but that’s not so bad
Diane Kruger interviewed:
If Helen of Troy was the face that launched a thousand ships, then beautiful German actress Diane Kruger's face is launching a thousand magazine covers.

You people shouldnt be so harsh. IT was probably a huge risk for her to play a character like Helen. SHe probably felt so much pressure already and i dont think she needs everyones critism. I bet she better looking then most of you and i dont think you want people saying things about how you arent as good looking as you should be.

The people criticising Diane are such losers, as if any of you hold a millionth of the beauty that she is blessed with. I’d really like to see who you would consider to play the part, I doubt any of you could ever pull it off!!

She is unquestioningly beautiful; I think some of the film critics may need a to take a trip to their local opticians.

There have been a zillion Playboy playmates as pretty. Good looking women are a dime a dozen in movies.
99 out of a 100 of them are never heard of again. Hire a plastic surgeon yourself, maybe you can be a star for day.

Sorry to hurt your feelings movie critics….but you criticized Diane Kruger so wrong. She is beautiful……..wait let me put that in a different way….she is gorgeous! and plus she has talent. How can you sit there and say that she will be a Carmen Electra actress. Excuse me….but if anyone has seen Carmen Electra’s movies they can see that she may have the beauty…but she doesnt have the talent. And Diane Kruger has both! She was great in Troy…and I’m pretty sure she will be great in National Treasure with Nic Cage…and Wicker Park with Josh Hartnett. And remember dear Critics…she is a foreign actor…whos first english flim has to be Troy. Dont make fun of her just because she is beautiful and talented. All you do is sit watch the movie and criticize. Sorry to bust your bubble…but what boring life. Wolfgang Peterson did the right choice by picking Diane for Helen…no one else couldve played this part. If Kirsten Dunst,Kate Hudson,or even freakin Julia Roberts were cast as her…you would probably praise their performance. Well buddies to tell you the truth no of them couldve played Helen. There ugly…stingy…and above all horrible actressess! So if your going to criticize…criticize them…not a foreign actress who by the way(used to be the highest paid european model in the world)Diane kruger is a great actress….and no one in the entire world couldve played Helen. That part was made for her!!!

You guys are inutterably cruel and wicked. You’re probably just jealous she’s got the looks and we, as common people, have nothing. She’s definitely a wonderful actress. She’s got the brains (she is multilingual) and the beauty.

i personally think diane did a great job of playing helen, picking a well known actress just wouldnt have worked in the role,it would also be difficult to find a woman so beautiful with talent.diane has both and pulled it off! i think it was gutsy of her to take such a role knowing that she was putting herself up for so much criticism-it was a bold move and i praise her for that.i think all critics should take that into consideration when writng about her-it was a tough role and she did it well,i couldnt imagine anyone else playing this role-she was perfect.

Everyone can have an opinion but how can you say that Diane Kruger wasn’t good? I saw the American movies she starred in and she was talented. Very, and considering the fact that this IS her first American movie she starred in I don’t think you should be so hard on her. You’re probably just jealous or maybe even wishing you could be just like her. Well, I’m off to go surf the web some more. But remember - you don’t want people to critic you like that, do you?
