Christian pop singer feels pity for Britney Spears

Rebecca St. James says of Britney Spears:
"I also feel sad for the nine or 10-years-old watching her who see her dressing in a very promiscuous fashion, almost asking for people to treat her as a sex object. They are going to start dressing that way too."
Somehow I suspect the wealthy and popular Ms. Spears doesn't need the sympathy of a Christian pop star who seems to spend her time talking about her own virginity while not dating men who also talk about their own chastity.
Britney's fans are doing what young women have always done. They'll grow up and become perfectly ordinary women.
Perhaps Ms. St. James feel retroactive sympathy for Marilyn Monroe, Raquel Welch and whoever were the popular sex symbols of the 80s and 90s.
Christian rock star 'sad for' Britney

I support what Rebecca St. James said. She happens to be my favorite singer, and I’ve seen her talk about sexual purity in concert and on TV, and she expresses her opinions with respect and humility. Regarding your comment about how Britney’s young fans who dress like her will grow up to be perfectly normal women, you must have only been thinking about the ones who DON’T end up becoming pregnant at 16 or contracting AIDS because they dressed like tramps and gave themselves to any boy they thought looked good. Unlike Britney, Rebecca realizes that her young fans consider her a role model, so she acts like one, for which I respect her a lot. It took a great deal of courage for her to say what she did about Britney, especially considering all the flak that she knew she’d end up recieving because of it. Bravo, Rebecca!

If nine or ten year olds start dressing like britney, it is the parents faults. If i had asked my parents to by me provocative clothing at that young age, they would have said HELL NO!! but today parents bend over and say yes to everything. Besides, i doubt that children would start wearing stockings and saucy stuff like britney does just because she does it. Britney, christina and the rest dress this unacceptable way, but were the stars in the past who they looked up to dressed so provocatively? No! And britney and christina still turned out the way they did. If these girls grow up and dress provocatively, it is because they are those type of girs.
