Josie & the Pussycats for the 21st century?
To keep in harmony with the first track I’m sure many guys wishes his girlfriend was - something - like any of the women.
I have a weakness for girl group harmony so I did acquire a copy of the neo-burlesque girl group’s CD. I like even weak vocal harmony by girlish voices. But there’s none here.
Let us check in with the folks at Blender to see if they are as interesting to know as to look at:
There’s way more to the Pussycat Dolls than their ample, luscious…voices. Blender learns all about the hardest working hotties in pop music in one-on-one interviews.
On her worst audition: “I needed the money, and was like, ‘I am going to be the best dancing toothbrush I can be for Oral-B. I went to the dancing auditions and really saw myself as a toothbrush. I went for it. And I didn’t get the job.” Nicole Scherzinger
On life as a Pussycat Doll: “We all have a home with the Dolls. But I wouldn’t mind venturing out. I love acting. I’d like to do a romantic comedy someday. I make a lot of weird faces. I don’t have any cartilage in my nose, so it goes in really weird directions.” Ashley Roberts
On what is attractive in a man: “I’m young, so I’m still pretty shallow, and I go for muscles. I like guys that are buff! There’s nothing wrong with that. I mean, he’s gotta be intelligent… sometimes.” Melody Thornton
What life is like singing on a cruise ship: “It was exciting…I knew I wanted to quit after my first ship, because I get so seasick, and I was on the toilet every Friday.” Kimberly Wyatt
On first concerts: “The first concert I went to was Debbie Gibson. I thought she was the coolest. I actually got to meet her like a year or two years ago. I freaked out: “Oh my god, Debbie Gibson!” And she was like, “It’s Deborah.” I don’t know if she took it right.” Jessica Sutta
On seeing Janet Jackson’s nipple slip firsthand: “None of us knew that was going to happen. It was like, “Oh my god, was that Janet’s tit?” When you watch it, it looks like Justin went to grab something. If my boob came out, my first reaction would be to cover it.” Carmit Bachar
OK, you wouldn’t expect better would you?
Musically …
Oh, the CD isn’t awful but - really - what comes to your mind is how much better the original versions of the remakes were.
Really I think there’d be more pleasure in owning it on vinyl than a compact disc: the cover art would be larger. The international version (below) of the CD has an extra track, Sway.
The Pussy Cat Dolls singles all have similarly appealing artwork.
Comments
Having just listed to them redo Tainted Love and the Supremes - when you hear the originals in your mind this is one awful CD.

If you look that fine it doesn’t matter if you don’t sound that great. Can’t have everything.
