I felt sad when I read the news about Britney’s cheating. I am a very die-hard fun of Britney. I love the way she dances, she moves, she acts, and I see Britney as my sister. As previously reported in What’s New, Britney Spears has been going out with one of her dancers, 27-year-old Kevin Federline, whose girlfriend is former “Moesha” star Shar Jackson. Shar and Kevin, who have a 2-year-old daughter named Kori, are expecting a son in July. Now Shar is striking back—publicly.

In a candid interview, Shar told Us Weekly that Britney and Kevin deserve each other because they both smoke, drink, and cheated. LONDON, England (Reuters) — A Grammy-award winning Christian rock star, who preaches a message of abstinence from sex until marriage, says she feels sorry for pop princess Britney Spears who herself once famously vowed to be a virgin until she wed.

Rebecca St. James, a star of the U.S. Christian music scene, said she was disappointed that role models from the world of music and movies such as Spears led youngsters astray with their message of “anything goes, if it feels good do it.”

“The biggest thing I feel for Britney is I feel sad for her,” she told Reuters in an interview on Saturday.

“I also feel sad for the nine or 10-years-old watching her who see her dressing in a very promiscuous fashion, almost asking for people to treat her as a sex object. They are going to start dressing that way too.”

Australian-born St. James, who fronts the True Love Waits organization in the U.S. which urges teenagers to avoid pre-marital sex, is embarking on a whirlwind European tour during which she hopes to spread the group’s message.

True Love Waits, which already boasts a healthy following in the U.S., encourages teenagers to pledge to their family and friends that they will stay virgins until they are married.

It was a message that once appealed to Spears herself. Shortly after she shot to superstardom as a teenager with her debut album “…Baby One More Time” she made a public promise to stay chaste until her wedding day.

But she later shed the image for a far more raunchy look, admitted she had slept with former boyfriend Justin Timberlake and said she thought sex was not “such a big deal.”

“She (Britney) has had an unbelievable amount of pressure put on her. She would have people from the top of her record label, to her manager and to her peers saying you’ve got to be more raunchy, show more skin,” St. James said.

“It’s like water on a stone, it just starts wearing away no matter how strong you are.”

Despite the seductive images of sex prevalent in the media, St. James is confident she can persuade youngsters to follow her lifestyle, claiming many teenagers saw waiting to have sex as “a new benchmark of cool.”

“Young people, whether they are Christians or not, are realizing that abstinence is actually smart because you don’t have to worry about STDs (sexually transmitted diseases), AIDS and pregnancy outside marriage.”

“Young people are wising up to the fact that it saves you a whole lot of pain when you do wait.”

‘Don’t even go close to the line’ The singer, who has won a Grammy for “Best Christian Rock Album,” made her vow to spurn pre-marital sex at 16 and says she now makes sure she avoids temptation — even her band are five single men committed to abstaining from pre-marital sex.

“I’m a virgin, I’m 26 and going to stay that way until after I’m married,” she said.

“My philosophy is, if you’re committed to waiting then don’t even go close to the line and only date people who are committed to waiting as well. Even the guys I date… we talk about making sure we don’t go close to the line.”

St. James is not the only one hoping to keep Europeans pure this summer. Another U.S. abstinence organization “The Silver Ring Thing,” which is partly funded by the U.S. government, is touring Britain and Ireland asking young people to remain chaste until marriage and to wear a ring on their finger to prove it.

But both groups would appear to have their work cut out in Britain, where St. James has started her tour.

The country has the highest rates of teenage pregnancy in western Europe and has seen an explosion of sexually transmitted diseases.

St. James is still hopeful.

“I expected way more flak than I’ve got,” she said.

“I’ve got a lot of mainstream media attention even in countries like Norway that are not known necessarily for their morality. It’s such a counter-culture message they are fascinated about it.”

You talk abour Britney as if she is the regular girl next door. The life she lives is not an easy one…you go through many things, many changes, many disfortunes. I’m not saying I agree with her behavior sometimes, but I don’t think that’s any of anyone’s busines other than the ones who are affected. And to those who criticize her in horrible ways…I must agree with those who say you are just jealous. Britney Spears is terrible, she cant sing, she cant dance, and she sux at everything else she does. She smokes , dresses like a hooker, and is ALL fake. This girl is the biggest known role model to young girls in the world… do you want your lil sis turning out like that? I came online to find out more about Britney and Kevin, and I came across all these posts. So many Britney fans, so many Britney haters! I believe that all artists should have the freedom to express themselves and to be creative, but as a woman in my late 20s who appreciates good music, I can honestly say that everything that Britney has done recently has been a poor quality knock-off of Madonna. Her dance moves in the “Toxic” video mimic Madonna’s original moves in “Express Yourself”. In Britney’s Onyx Hotel tour, her dance number on the bed in her pink underwear is all but a complete rip-off of Madonna’s “Like a Virgin” dance number in the Blonde Ambition tour, where, yes, Madonna is writhing and singing on a bed dressed in, yes, almost the same underwear. I listen to both artists’ music, but really, Britney needs to come up with a more original approach to being a sexy, naughty pop singer…not just focusing on what fame she has, her money, her looks and Britney Inc. Pop star stress comes with the territory. If she wants to be famous making mega-bucks, then she needs to learn to deal with it. Otherwise, just get out of the music industry if it’s taking such a toll on her well-being. There are tons of positions in the stripper/porn industry if she ever became interested. Out of all the possible smart and hunky guys out there, ready and willing to date Miss Spears, did she really need to date a man with children and a woman? Or is it more about Britney enjoying the feeling that she has the power to do so? And for all the ladies who posted on here about it being okay to date/sleep with another woman’s man, how would you feel if your man did that to you? I think that Britney Spears is not as big as a lot of people see her. I have to admit that she’s a great dancer, but in The Onyx Hotel Tour she looked left behind by her own dancers. I read a comment by NSYNC member JC Chazes where he said that “if you want to hear good music you go to a Stevee Wonder’s concert, but you don’t go to a Britney concert to hear good music, you go to enjoy the great show she puts on” and that’s true but if she’s just a great entertainer but not a good singer why they’re putting her out there like this great singer when she isn’t. We’re being lied to by the people who put her in the bussiness. Some say she’s “The Princess of Pop” and she NEVER EVER sings live and when she does - or at least tries to- she REALLY sucks at it. Doesn’t anybody notice it??? I don’t think she’s the perfect role model for all those little girls who follow her every move and I know no one’s perfect but Britney has made an image of herself that isn’t the ideal one. I saw the Showtime Special of The Onyx Hotel Tour and when I saw the “Breathe on me” part I asked myself: “What are all the moms there saying to their little girls when they ask them ‘what is she doing’?” Didn’t Britney know that she has a lot of little fans who actually go to her concerts and listen to her music and that follow her every move? On benefit events and things that envolve interviews she tries to be this good, next door, down to earth, virginal, self-controled girl when she really isn’t and the on her shows she obviously contradicts herself with all she does and I’m not even going to say anything about her personal life because I just wouldn’t end. Anyways, I think Britney should take a long break from her carreer, a lot of singing classes, a lot of therapy and she should do a lot of self-evaluation because she really needs it and she’s not too late to re-do her so-called perfect life.
