Miss America's Reality Check Bounces

» Television

Regardless of its stated purpose the Miss America pageant seemed to be designed to be the most bourgeois cheesecake fest and present young women as candidates to become the most banal and boring sort of trophy wife. By contemporary standards the contest is so tepid and inane it is a sort of zombie cultural artifact.

Miss America Reality Check is feeble attempt to make the pageant more appealing to contemporary tastes.

So, along with receiving makeover advice, the contestants in “Reality Check” were quizzed about history and science in a segment called “Are you smarter than a Miss USA Girl?” Those who weren’t were made to take a dive in a pool.

It failed to produce a YouTube moment, although Friday’s episode in which some hopefuls struggle to remember the words to the “Star-Spangled Banner” has potential.

Miss America pageant mocks contestants

Sounds pretty hot, eh?

Come on pageant promoters, we’re in the 21st century: embrace the sleaze.

How do you feel?

Feel free to share your feelings about Miss America's Reality Check Bounces. Please stick to the theme of the entry. Disagreement is fine. Homophobia, racism, and kindred expressions of hatred will be deleted. This site is one of my hobbies. I genuinely enjoy hearing from people and hate moderating or killing comments. Forthright disagreement is fine as long as it is civil.
My thanks,
